Stewart said that of all the films he made, It’s a Wonderful Life was his favorite. He’s not alone: The American Film Institute ranked it Number 20 on its list of the greatest movies of all time. Stewart, who had recently returned from distinguished service in World War II, almost passed on the role of George; it was Lionel Barrymore (who so brilliantly played the villainous, money-mad Mr. Potter in the film) who convinced him to take the part. Here, Stewart makes a snowball out of the special snow created specially for the film.
